Sussex has a rich range of cultural, heritage and art-related events and attractions.
East Sussex is renowned for offering both the rural and urban, from unspoilt countryside, medieval cottages, castles and picturesque villages, to the thriving city of Brighton with it's mix of rakish eccentricity, buzzing music scene and bountiful boutiques. East Sussex is steeped in history and culture; the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066; Bateman's - the home of Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book; Charleston Farmhouse, the country home of the Bloomsbury Group. There are many fantastic attractions in East Sussex, and some of the highlights are included on this website.
West Sussex offers epic views of the South Downs, unspoilt coastlines to explore, and ancient woodlands in which to get lost. A beautiful rural region where you can experience many elements of England's history from Fishbourne Palace, the site of a sumptuous Roman palace, to Weald and Downland Open Air Museum and it's fascinating collection of nearly fifty historic buildings dating from the 13th to the 19th century, together with farm animals, woodland walks and a picturesque lake.

Sussex is home to a spectrum of events throughout the year from international arts festivals such as the annual Brighton Festival, Glyndebourne's prestigious opera festival, to local country fairs such as the spring fair at Petworth House and Park.
Brighton Festival
Brighton Festival brings three weeks of top international artists and performances in dance, performance and theatre, site-specific work, music, literature, debate, throughout the city of Brighton from 5th to 27th May 2007.

If you love historic houses, gardens and stunning countryside you must spend some time exploring East Sussex, Mid Sussex and West Sussex.
