Anne of Cleves House
Part of the divorce settlement made by Henry VIII to Anne of Cleves, this lovely Wealden hall-house is now a popular historic attraction. On display are artefacts including Wealden ironwork, firebacks, cannon and the story of Lewes from the 16th century to the present day. The displays show treasures from Tudor times onwards, with the Lewes Gallery illustrating what makes the town special. Let your imagination take you back to the 17th century as you wander through the kitchen or gaze at the rafters in the high roof of the hall. Round off your visit with a stroll in the delightful garden to appreciate the scent of roses and herbs.
